About Musée National des Mines de Fer
The National Mining Museum in Rumelange runs an "Anniversaire au musée" format built around the interactive kids' visit and the optional mining train that rides into the galleries inside the mountain. The booking caps at 20 people total, small enough for a guide to engage one-on-one. The above-ground multipurpose hall is the only catered-cake space, so a full birthday splits in two: the guided underground segment, then cake in the rented hall.
Best for
- Kids who'd be enthralled by a train ride into a real former iron-ore mine.
- Smaller groups (cap 20 including adults) where a guide can engage individually.
- Mixed-language guest lists; visits can be run in LU, FR, DE or EN.
Good to know
- The galleries stay 10–12 °C year-round; bring jumpers and closed shoes.
- The 20-person ceiling is a hard cap on people, not kids. Count accompanying adults in.
- Booking is online only, at least 48 hours ahead; train slots fill in the summer holidays.
- Closed Mondays, 1 November, 4 December, and 24 December – 1 January inclusive.
